Landscapes of Peru & Bolivia Tour - Example Itinerary

DAY 1 - LONDON TO LIMA

Fly British Airways from Heathrow to Madrid and onwards with LAN Airlines to Lima, arriving the following day.

DAY 2 - LIMA

Upon arrival in Lima transfer to the Casa Andina Private Collection, Lima for a two night stay. The rest of the day is spent at leisure.

DAY 3 - LIMA

Soak up the colonial atmosphere of Peru�s capital on a private city tour taking in sights such as the Government Palace, San Francisco Convent and the beautifully preserved, pre-Inca, Huaca Huallamarca pyramid dating back to approximate 500 AD.

DAY 4 - LIMA TO CUZCO

Travel from the hotel to Lima airport to board a flight to Cuzco set high in the Peruvian Andes. Transfer to the Casa Andina Private Collection, Cuzco for a three night stay. Enjoy a half day private tour of this Spanish colonial city built over the foundations of the ancient capital of the Incas. Visit the Temple of the Sun to view the astonishing stone work of the Incas. Other highlights of the tour include the Plaza de Armas, the city's cathedral and the incredible inca fortress of Sacsahuaman.

DAY 5 - CUZCO

Follow in the footsteps of the Incas with a full day visit to the archaeological site of Ollantaytambo. Once the royal estate of an Inca emperor, this fortress town was a military, religious and cultural centre. The afternoon is spent at the Pisac market full of colourful vendors selling Peruvian handicrafts.

DAY 6 - CUZCO

Journey via rail admiring the phenomenal mountain views on your way to the Aguas Calientes Station in Machu-Picchu and onward by bus up to the lost city of the Incas that lay above the clouds undiscovered until 1911. Partake in a guided tour of the ruins followed by lunch at a local restaurant. Return to Cuzco via rail.

DAY 7 - CUZCO TO PUNO

Travel by train to the shores of Lake Titicaca. Take in life on the world�s highest navigable lake from the town of Puno. Stay one night at the Upon arrival transfer to the Casa Andina Private Collection, Puno.

DAY 8 - PUNO TO HUATAJATA

Transfer to Copacabana where you will visit the Sanctuary and the local market before enjoying a hydrofoil cruise to a number of the lake�s islands including Moon Island, Sun Island and the Urus Iruitos Floating Islands. Visit temples, discover Bolivia�s natural healers and explore the cultures of the people of the Titicaca. Spend the evening getting to grips with Southern hemisphere night sky. Spend one night at the Inca Utama Hotel & Spa.

DAY 9 - HUATAJATA TO LA PAZ

Uncover the ruins of one of the oldest civilisations in the Americas at Tiwanaku. Dating back to approximately 1,500 BC the ruins draw attention to the inhabitant�s skills in architecture, agriculture and medicine. Continue to La Paz for an overnight stay at the Radisson Plaza. Join a city tour to discover the city�s hidden depths and witness the other worldly landscapes on Moon Valley.

DAY 10 - LA PAZ TO SUCRE

Fly from La Paz to Sucre for two nights at the Parador Santa Maria Real. Enjoy a half day city tour taking in the Recoleta, San Francisco Church and House of Liberty where the Independence of Bolivia was signed.

DAY 11 - SUCRE

Visit the Tarabuco native fair, where stalls sell colourful Indian weavings, on a full day tour.

DAY 12 - SUCRE TO POTOSI

Travel overland to Potosi, one of the world�s highest cities. Upon arrival transfer to the Hotel Coloso for an overnight stay. This afternoon partake in a half day city tour visiting the cloister of San Francisco, Santa Teresa's Museum and the miner market.

DAY 13 - POTOSI TO UYUNI

After breakfast visit the Royal Mint House (Casa de la Moneda) before travelling to Uyuni, the gateway to Bolivia�s famous salt flats. Stay one night at the unique Luna Salada Hotel, constructed intirely out of salt blocks from the famous salt flats of Salar de Uyuni.

DAY 14 - UYUNI

Visit Bolivia�s vast salt lakes and the lush islands that stick out in the seemingly endless white landscape. The first stop is Colchani where you can witness the local traditional methods of salt extraction. Continue onto Isla Pescado stopping at the salt museum and 'Ojos de Agua'. The Isla Pescado is a fish shaped island at the centre of the salt pan, a respite for the eyes in this extensive land of white and blue. This evening spend time at the Hotel Tambo Aymara before boarding the train back towards La Paz at midnight.

DAY 15 - UYUNI TO LA PAZ

Disembark at Oruro and transfer to the Radisson Plaza in La Paz for a one night stay.

DAY 16 - LA PAZ TO LONDON

Fly LAN Airlines from La Paz to Madrid and onwards with British Airways to Heathrow, arriving the next day.

CHILE EXTENSION

Extend your tour and discover the driest place on earth, the Atacama Desert in Chile. Volcanoes, geysers and salt pains are some of the many geographical phenomenons that await in this extraordinary environment.

DAY 14 UYUNI

Spend a further night in Uyuni at the Luna Salada Hotel.

DAY 15 UYUNI TO SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA

Transfer to Altiplanico Atacama for a two night stay. Explore the surrounding desert backdrop and fascinating centre of the Atacama culture.

DAY 17 SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA TO SANTIAGO

Fly to Chile�s capital Santiago, an enthralling city nestled under the towering Andes, for a one night stay at the Atton El Bosque.

DAY 18 SANTIAGO

Fly LAN Airlines to Madrid and onwards to London Heathrow with British Airways arriving the following day.
